April 2015
NEW REVELATIONS EXONERATE SCOOTER LIBBY "[T]he chief if reluctant prosecution witness against Mr. Libby, journalist Judith Miller, says she now believes her testimony at trial was wrong. . . . It is never too late to correct an unjust conviction, and Mr. Libby deserves to have his reputation restored.” The Wall Street Journal, Editorial, "The Libby Injustice,” April 6, 2015 "I gave honest testimony, but it was wrong. . . .: I do think I was a part of unfair treatment to Mr.Libby. . . .” Judith Miller, Fox and Friends, April 2015
"Journalist Judith Miller’s new
memoir, "The Story: A Reporter’s Journey,” exposes
unscrupulous conduct by Special Counsel Patrick J.
Fitzgerald in the 2007 trial of I. Lewis
"Scooter” Libby.
"[S]pecial prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald rigged the 2007 perjury trial…. Fitzgerald constructed a web of lies out of Miller’s testimony in the Libby trial in order to get a conviction, by withholding exculpatory evidence from her and from Libby’s lawyers.” "As a result of Fitzgerald withholding evidence, [Miller] inadvertently helped convict an innocent man. . . . It is undisputed [Fitzgerald’s] methods were neither professional nor legally sound.” Victoria Toensing, "Libby Trial Shows Dangers of Political Prosecutions," The Hill, April 15, 2015
Prosecution witness Judith Miller
recently revealed that she testified falsely in the
2007 perjury trial of Scooter Libby.
Worse yet, she reveals that her false
testimony stemmed from "unscrupulous conduct” by
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald.
Miller laments her role in convicting Libby,
an innocent man.
Miller’s courageous new memoir, The Story,
opens a new chapter in efforts to exonerate Lewis
Libby for non-criminal conduct in a case that should
never have been brought.
She reveals that all Libby did in 2003 was
rebut false charges against the Bush Administration.
But despite Scooter’s fully appropriate
conduct, Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald withheld
exculpatory evidence to falsely incriminate Libby.
Why? Because Fitzgerald’s real target was
Libby’s boss, Vice President Dick Cheney.
Libby’s innocence, Fitzgerald’s wrongdoing,
and the tragic consequences for America are
discussed in articles cited in this website.
Background on the Lewis Libby Justice Fund
The Lewis Libby Justice Fund is the successor fund
to the excellent work done by its predecessor, the
Libby Legal Defense Trust, and will support efforts
that include and extend beyond the legal services
and related costs that were the focus of the Trust.
Recent revelations of wrong-doing by the prosecutor
and injustice in the case against him open a final
phase in Scooter’s efforts to clear his name.
Scooter pled "not guilty” to each and every
count in the indictment. In pleading
not guilty, Scooter declared his innocence and his
intention to fight the charges and many false claims
made against him.
That fight continues.
But this long fight can be very expensive.
And Scooter and his family already have made many
sacrifices during Scooter’s ten years of dedicated
public service and years of defending against these
unjust charges. Now they need our help to win this
fight.
We are confident that at the end of this process,
Scooter Libby will be fully exonerated both in the
law and in the hearts of our fellow countrymen.
We invite you to join Scooter’s many friends and
colleagues in supporting the defense of this good
man in clearing his good name.
All money collected will be deposited in the Fund
and will be disbursed, over time, for professional
services and other efforts and expenses to right the
injustice Scooter has suffered. Advisory Committee Members
